Program Files 에 Bonjour 폴더가 왜 있을까? 왜 있을까?

어느 순간부터인가 내 컴퓨터의 Program Files 폴더에 Bonjour 폴더가 생겼다.
포맷을 두어달에 한번씩 해주는 나이기에 뭔가 쓰는데 필요하니까 폴더가 생겨있겠지 하고 대수롭지 않게 넘겼다.

그런데!! 두둥!!
누군가 내게 말해줬다. 저 녀석은 아주 쓰레기라고...
Adobe Creative Suite 3 (CS3)를 설치하면 사용자에 동의따윈 구하지 않고 멋대로 설치되는 프로그램이라는데
싸이월드 ActiveX 뮤직 플레이어(이에 관한 miaan님의 포스트), 판도라TV의 ActiveX 동영상 플레이어 등
그 녀석들과 비슷한 녀석(사용자의 리소스를 사용한 분산 시스템 프로그램)이라고 한다.


로컬에서 돌아가는 Version Cue Server를 더 다이나믹하게 해준다는데
난 Version Cue Server가 무엇인지도 모르고 설치한 적도 없다.
이에 대해 어도비에서 발표한 TechNote가 있다.
이 프로그램이 왜 설치되었는지, 어떻게 삭제하는지 등의 정보가 있다.

TechNote에서 삭제방법만 따로 가져왔다.

Removing Bonjour for Windows

To remove Bonjour:

1. Open a Windows command prompt and type the following command:
   "C:\Program Files\Bonjour\mDNSResponder.exe" -remove
2. Navigate to the following folder in Windows Explorer: C:\Program Files\Bonjour
3. Rename the mdnsNSP.dll file in that folder to mdnsNSP.old
4. Restart your computer
5. Delete the the Program Files\Bonjour folder

Note: Removing Bonjour prevents Version Cue clients (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Flash, Bridge) from automatically discovering Version Cue Servers and Version Cue projects in your local network. You will need to connect manually using Connect to Server and the URL or IP address of the machine running Version Cue Server instead.
